JEDDAH
Seafront style
Saudi Arabia’s first boutique-style hotel opens next month as the Global Hyatt Corporation, which has more than 735 hotels and resorts in some 44 countries around the world, expands into the Kingdom. Park Hyatt Jeddah has 142 generously proportioned guest rooms and suites, all with the latest high-tech gadgetry and lavish spa bathrooms.

The hotel is the centrepiece of a large development that includes the existing Equestrian Club, a 2,000m2 convention and banqueting complex with space for 800 guests, and a therapy centre, with a marina planned for the future. Sports and leisure facilities are divided into separate areas for men and women, linked by a family club and restaurant. A pioneering project for the city, in part built on land reclaimed from the Red Sea, the resort will offer direct access to the seafront.

DUBAI
Value added
As hotels in the high-flying emirate aspire to ever more stars, the less expensive end of the market can often feel neglected in Dubai. British budget chain Premier Inn thinks it has spotted a gap in the market and has just opened its first branch outside the UK and Ireland in the emirate.

The Dubai Investments Park hotel has 308 rooms, a restaurant, bar, coffee shop and swimming pool, at a “value” price aimed at families and couples. It’s part of a plan to expand across the region, with Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and more cities in the UAE all targeted for the near future, as well as India. www.premierinn.com
