Lounge suits
As part of the ongoing initiatives to provide an enhanced travel experience for its customers, Gulf Air recently inaugurated its fully renovated lounge at Dubai International Airport. The lounge boasts new interiors and specially designed seating, plus ultra-modern facilities such as a Business Centre. Two specially designed tents lend an Arabian flavour to the new surroundings and there’s a wide selection of international and regional newspapers, as well as magazines for premium passengers when they wait for their flights.
Engine of change
Gulf Air has a new internet booking engine (IBE) on its website – www.gulfair.com – that includes online hotel booking and car hire, as well as frequent-flyer miles redemption. It will also soon come with a guarantee that customers will not find a more competitive fare for the same itinerary on any other website – or Gulf Air will reimburse the difference!
Eyes to the skies
Look out for Gulf Air’s unique F1 livery
As part of Gulf Air’s campaign to promote its title sponsorship of the 2008 FORMULA ONE GULF AIR BAHRAIN GRAND PRIX – from 4-6 April – the airline has commissioned a unique livery for one of its Airbus A330-200 aircraft. The new design was created by Bahraini artist Bader Yousif Murad, who has been passionate about aviation since childhood.
His vision was a livery that would embrace Bahrain’s 5,000-year history and appeal to young and old alike. The memorable result – on a pale brown fuselage – reflects both the motor racing theme and the Kingdom’s heritage. It will be an exceptional sight – well worth looking out for the next time you are in the departure lounge of an airport.
We’ve got BITE
Gulf Air and Magnum Events and Exhibitions Management (MEEM) have joined forces again for the Bahrain International Travel Expo (BITE 2008), to be held from 14-17 May at the Bahrain International Exhibition Centre. The event brings together exhibitors from across the travel and tourism industry to promote products and services.
Gulf Air will have a dedicated premium pavilion at BITE 2008, offering visitors a wide range of products and services. “Over the past three years, BITE has served as an ideal platform for consumers and trade personnel to check out the latest information and offers from various travel and tourism experts and providers,” says Gulf Air Chief Executive Officer Björn Näf.
Last year, the event attracted a total of 105 exhibitors from 41 countries and around 18,000 visitors from Bah-rain, and neighbouring GCC countries. “We expect further positive growth in the numbers of international exhibitors and visitors this year,” says Jamil A Wafa, the founder and group chairman of Magnum Holding.
