Little black book: Riyaaz Amlani

The 32-year-old owner of coffee-shop chain Café Mocha shares his home city with Chetna Mahadik

Tasting Room
If I have to take a break from shopping, it’s at this bar and restaurant at Good Earth. It is elegant and comfortable, and I like the coffee and beverages there. Besides, we own it, so that’s an advantage.
Raghuvanshi Mills Compound, Senapati Bapat Marg, Lower Parel, +91 22 6552 0440

Good Earth
Good Earth is a great place for furniture. It is very tastefully done up and the fact it is built inside an abandoned mill adds to the experience. Raghuvanshi Mills Compound, Senapati Bapat Marg, Lower Parel, +91 22 2495 1954

Heera Panna
I always have more electronic gadgets than I can use. I pick up most of my stuff from this imported electronic goods market at Haji Ali.

The shopkeepers really know how to sell – the way the stuff is displayed in the windows makes it hard to resist buying. Heera Panna Shopping Centre, Tardeo Road

Chor Bazaar
I love flea markets and this one is so eclectic. Each item seems to have a story behind it. Workmanship such as you find here doesn’t exist elsewhere. I’ve sourced most of the furniture for Café Mochas from here. Mutton Street

Crossword Bookstore
I am always buying more books than I can read and this is a great place to browse without being harassed. I am also a film buff and like to pick up DVDs here.
Kemps Corner, + 91 22 2384 2001, www.crosswordbook. stores.com

Musician’s Mall
I love music and play the guitar. This place isn’t just about instruments, it’s also about all the little accessories. Laud Mansion, 21 Maharishi Karve Road, + 91 22 2385 2385
