Dear Passenger,
Last year was an exciting one for Gulf Air. The company underwent many changes, overcame many challenges and many crucial decisions were made, which we believe are improving the airline. But one thing that did not change was your support and we thank you wholeheartedly for that.
As a national carrier, Gulf Air is aligning itself with the dynamic growth of the Kingdom of Bahrain and has ambitious plans to become the airline of choice. We will not be able to achieve this without your cooperation and, therefore, we again seek your valuable support.
With the full backing of Bahrain’s wise leadership, our airline has ordered up to 24 Boeing 787 Dreamliners worth nearly US$6billion. We are making this investment with one main objective in mind: to serve you better and to excel in everything we do to become the airline of choice.
The other aim is to extend the hospitality of the “Kingdom of Golden Smiles” across all parts of the globe. We will also be introducing new products and services to further enhance your travel experience.
As you are aware, Bahrain is to host another round of the Formula One Championship. Gulf Air, being the title sponsor of the race, will be honoured to fly you into the Kingdom for the Fifth Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix on April 4, 5 and 6, and we look forward to welcoming you to the “Pearl of the Gulf” to watch the only F1 race in the Middle East.
Once again, thank you for all your support and have a safe journey.
Björn Näf
Chief executive officer, Gulf Air

Gulf Air heads in new direction with bilateral agreement between Bahrain and India
Gulf Air will soon operate three flights a week to Hyderabad after being granted additional capacity to India following talks between Bahrain’s Civil Aviation Affairs (CAA) and its Indian counterpart. Gulf Air has also secured rights to increase its flights between Bahrain and Kochi to a daily service from its current five flights a week, and there are also additional flights between Bahrain and Kolkata.
Hyderabad is the capital city of the state of Andhra Pradesh, with an estimated population of seven million people. It is known for its history, architecture and culture
“This agreement is testament to the strong relations between Bahrain and India,” said CAA’s under-secretary HE Capt. Abdulrahman Al-Gaoud, who led the Bahrain delegation.
Gulf Air’s president and chief executive Björn Näf hailed the
agreement as a momentous development for the airline. “It presents a golden opportunity for the two countries to further boost their economic and cultural development,” he said. “Being the first Middle East carrier to operate to India, Gulf Air considers this to be a token of appreciation for its long-term commitment. We look at the rapidly growing India market as one of our stepping stones to success.”
Näf added that Gulf Air has aggressively embarked on its expansion plans with the recent announcement of the Boeing 787 order, which is valued at nearly US$6billion.
Rajeev Nambiar, general manager of Gulf Air India, said: “Gulf Air has seen tremendous growth in India and we look forward to strengthening our presence in the country. Added capacity will complement our services to Indian travellers.” |
