MAKE LIKE A FLAMINGO
From December to March, Larnaca’s Salt Lake on the airport road is home to about 10,000 migrating flamingos. By summer, their distinctive pink colour is replaced instead by salt white as the water in the lake evaporates. Legend has it that local saint Lazarus placed a curse on the area after an old woman refused him food and drink from her vines. |
