FRANKFURT
Visit 13 museums in one day
On the banks of the River Main, Frankfurt’s Museum Mile has more than a dozen museums, the best known of which is the Städelsches Kunstinstitut. The gallery houses a world-class collection of old masters, including works by Dürer and Holbein, but the Sachsenhausen embankment has an array of other attractions. There is a natural history museum, a film museum, collections of architecture and ethnography, a museum of icons, and a range of Islamic art at the Museum of Applied Arts (MAK-Frankfurt). Buy a “Museumsufer” ticket and drift between them all. www.kultur.frankfurt.de
WHITEN YOUR TEETH AT THE AIRPORT
Frankfurt Airport is one of Europe’s largest so it comes as no surprise that it has evolved into a mini city. As well as the usual shops, you can go to the dentist, get a haircut, have a manicure, browse an art gallery – and visit a casino (www.airport-casino.de). Over 16s can also join an airport tour. |
